Happy and Merry Christmas

I have listened to some very good speeches recently related to Christmas.  I asked many what does Christmas mean to others?  I got a variety of responses.  To me, to remember what Christmas is all about,  I merely remember the first five letters of the word.  Christ.   Is that not what Christmas represents?

Regardless, for the holiday season, I once again want to repost here Desirada.  This is for all of us children of the universe.  Peace.

DESIRADA

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.

But let not this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection.

Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

And finally, let there peace across this wonderful planet of ours and good will among all mankind.
May we move forward united; instead of divided.

And merely remember if we all raise our hands and proclaim proudly, "I too am an American, by my birth; or by my lawful status; and if we all do so, then we are all united by that common right."

And if most of do, we are united as one people and proud to state:

I am an American fortunate to live in the United States of America. We are united; not divided.

Finally, with all other people across the world, we have one thing in common-we are united by the mere fact we are humans.  We all that right to be here.  As written in Desirada.  And that one fact, unites us across this world of ours.
That is my prayer.  So help me God. Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad. May there be peace on earth among all of us.

My humble and simple wish for Christmas is merely for all of you, and your loved ones, to have a Merry and Peaceful Christmas. All across the United States of America; as well as across this entire universe of ours, regardless of your geographic or geopolitical coordinates.

Like Spock stated on Star Trek long ago: "Live Long and Prosper."

And all of us merely need to remember the Serenity Pray.

Data now available on United PACS of America

Click this link I just received from the Federal Election Commission.  See
 http://www.fec.gov/pdf/record/2009/dec09.pdf.

Go to page 9 on the right side.  There is information related to the United PACS of America.  I highly suggest we all get this information.  Policitical Action Committees are corrupting our nation. Maybe it time we stop these PACS, their special interest groups and lobbyists from destroying our nation.

Free Trade vs. Fair Trade

I recently read a blogger post an outstanding issue that included our foreign trade policy.  The issue was related to what was my position related to trade.  So, I thanked the person for asking such an outstanding question. I had to reflect on this.  Which is a good thing for us congressional candidates.

Why I am one of the few congressional candidates this election cycle that does have a blog and discuss issues is so I can learn from some bloggers. In regard to foreign trade policy, I like what this blogger suggested.  I support fair trade instead of merely free trade as a better policy.  For several reasons.

In a free market economy, the government stays out of trade.  Now the consensus or even more than merely a consensus of those I have talked to, want  fair trade.  Most of you are tired of exporting jobs all over the planet earth.  I concur.

Most of you have told me as I listen to your voice, you want to reindustrialize our nation.  I concur.

Most of you have told me you want our national infrastructure to be a priority.  I concur.

When it comes to foreign trade policy, a person that understands this issue also has to address trade tariffs.  I am leaning to having some trade tariffs. Particularily on China.

I am tired of seeing so many common items coming from China instead of being produced domestically.  Remember the slogan, "BUY AMERICAN." Maybe that is a good trade foreign trade policy we all ought to be supporting.

I really think it is time that any product that is not produced in the United States be clearly labeled where this product was produced.  So, when we go to purchase a product, we all know where our dollars are going to.

I prefer my dollars to stay in the United States ensuring we have domestic production capabilities.  Instead, we seem to be exporting all of our productive capacity to the nation with the lowest labor cost. Most of us are tired of exporting US dollars to China.  I am also.

I do not support this kind of trade policy.  I do support buy American.  So, I do not like NAFTA, CAFTA or anything other nonsense related to trade policy based on who has the cheapest labor.  I therefore publically state based on the consensus of you employers, I support fair trade.

I also support American workers, laborers and craftsman.  These people built our nation. Most of us do too.  And that unites us.  So buy American.  And do not buy products from China.

IN CLEAR TERMS BOYCOTT PRODUCTS FROM CHINA.

What are the positions of these other candidates, or purported candidates?  I have no clue.  So why am I one of the few candidates out here that will actually listen and write about the issues?  But most of the other candidates are not?  Which one will take a stand on issues based on consensus of the voters?

We all know the answer.  I support fair trade because that is the consensus of you, the voter.  The people I am asking for a job.  Try asking the other applicants for me, will you?  For it appears most of them have no clue.

Is Obama reading my blog or do I just know what I am talking about?

Is Obama reading my blog or do I just know what I am talking about?  Too bad we wasted that trillion dollars with stimulus package one.  You know, the bailout. Now we have Bailout called Stimulus 2.  Is it a bailout or a stimulus? I can't remember.

See http://money.cnn.com/2009/12/16/news/economy/Obama_stimulus/index.htm?cnn=yes.

Furthermore, the taxpayers should not be paying for high speed bullet trains. Nor should they have had to pay for the bailout the first time to the tune of around a trillion dollars for bailing out corporate America.

That is why I have been emailing with Warren Buffet.  High speed bullet trains and some of these other things should be paid by the free market economy and the railroad industry; instead of the American taxpayer using our federal dollars to make the capitalists even richer.

Warren can afford to build high speed bullet trains and he does not need your federal tax dollars to do it.

I merely wonder which corporate entity will get Stimulus 3 money from the Obama administration?  But you can bet with the current dem leadership, you, the individual is not going to get squat. The only thing you and the next five or generations of individuals are going to get is the federal tax bill to pay for all this stuff.

You know what is coming next. Cap and Trade and Health Insurance mandates, and a whole bunch of other federal, state, county and municipal taxes for a very long time.  Goodbye, hard working middle class America.  It was nice for a while to have 3 classes in America.  Now it will be the rich and the rest of us, we the people.

That includes the baby boomers, Gen X, Y, Z and the next 3 generations, called AA, AB, and AC.  The way the dems are spending your tax dollars, I figure our national debt incurred with this current administration should be paid off in about 120 years.

2130 should be long enough for our federal tax dollars to deal with this administration's various bailout schemes provided the federal government starts balancing the federal budget every year from 2010 until the  3rd decade of the 22nd Century.

Beware of federal mandates

In 1990, the Americans with Disabilties Act was passed.  42 U.S.C. 12101, et seq.  Contained in this section 12101 at the very end stated this was a federal mandate.  Now, there are very few mandates issued by the United States Congress.

Another one was No Child Left Behind.  (NCLB).  And a lot of people wonder when that is going to ng to be fully funded by Congress.  (Although I do not believe the problem/solution with education in this country is federal funds).  The problem in public education is a whole other issue worth addressing seperately.

And now the Obama adminstration and the democrats in Washington want to force on us, we the  people, a health insurance mandate.  Since it is a mandate, if passed, I guess everyone in America would get free health insurance since mandates have to be fully funded.  Which is a tad bit ironic.  Beware.  For lots of reasons.  Particularily since health care is 1/6th of our national econony.  I do not want the federal government running 1/6th of our national economy.

In 1994, I started telling people I was an American with a service connected disability caused/incurred by active military service in the United States Navy.  On top of that, I had two brothers that were mentally retarded (aka intellectually challenged).  So, our family knows a few things about what it is like to be a person with a known disability.  Now I did not cause my own disabilities.  I just had to endure the discrimination and hide the fact that I had one or more.  While concurrently doing my best to overcome the discrimination.

When I started to understand that I was a protected class around 1994, as promised by that federal mandate in Section 12101, I came out of that out of the proverbial closet about being a person with a disabilty I did not cause.  I was assured by that federal mandate, I would not be discriminated against.

I was sadly mistaken.  I still am discriminated against almost daily because of having it.  Just like it states.  By lot of entities.  I just keep plugging along doing the best I can, despite having disabilities. I am proud of what I have had to endure.  I do not have that victim, woe is me kind of mentality.  Nor do I want to sound like some whiner out here having to deal with the adversity and continuing discrimation.  And there are a lot of us out here.  However, I have no problems asserting my lawful rights if I am discriminated against.

That kind of character and overcoming adversity makes those of us like myself  both compassionate and proud. As well as qualified to run for United States Congress.  At least that is what is assured by the Americans with Disabilities Act mandate.

For example, I tried to call a couple of utility and insurance companies in the past week.  Their phone lines are not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act; despite this being a federal law and a mandate.  Should I file a complaint with some federal or state agency?  Would that work?  Been there, done that.  Here it almost 2010, 19 years later.  And many corporations in America have still not complied with the Americans with Disabilities Act--a federal mandate.

This includes Geico Insurance Comany owned by Warren Buffet.  This also includes utility companies like Time Warner and Comcast.  Why does Congress not do anything about that kind of discrimination since that violates federal law.  Why does the United States attorneys and federal judges allow this? Why do companies willfully, intentionally and knowingly continue to violate federal laws that are mandates?  That no one will ensure these entities comply with.

And now they want to pass another mandate forcing us all to get health insurance?  Who is going to ensure that mandate is going to work; when we still cannot get other mandates like the ADA passed 19 years ago to work? Beware of federal mandates.

Beware of any proposed health insurance mandates.  Like the health insurance mandate.  The federal government passes mandates, but then does nothing to make entities comply with these federally mandated laws. So why on earth would we want yet again, another federal mandate now?

I assure you a federal mandate passed in 1991 does not work.  I know.  I have to still endure discrimination in this nation almost every day.  Just like I did today.  And no one cares.  And 19 years from now, any health insurance mandate would not work either.

So, on some days, I really wish I would have just stayed in the closet hiding.  Instead of telling everyone in fact, I am a United States war veteran, honorably discharged, service decorated that has a service connected disability.  And some of you yahoos in Washington want another mandate telling us Americans what we have to do.

Stop telling us what we, the people have to do.  We, the people are in charge of the federal government.  Not yahoo(s) in Washington.  You work for us.  We tell you what to do.  If you don't listen to we the people, we are going to fire you.  And a lot of you know it.

Hence, why so many alleged fiscally conservative blue dog democrats are resigning instead of waiting around for us to fire you in 2010 for not being a fiscal conservative and after spending a trillion dollars of new debt instead bailing out corporate America that caused the problem in the first place-AIG, the bankers, Wall St., the insurance companies and finally Government Motors.

But help those losing their homes?  Sorry.

Help those in Katrina?  Sorry, we had to fight a war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We cannot afford to help Americans here domestically.

We cannot afford to build our infrastracture because we have to rescue failing state governments clear to the local level.

We are too busy spending money helping foreign nations.  There is just not enough money to focus on domestic problems.

Blue dog, yellow dog, fired dog.  Come here puppy.  The gate is open to the Scherer Blue Dog kennel. I am the blue dog catcher.  Four down.  A lot more of these fiscally irresponsible blue dogs are still running wild in fiscally irresponsible packs up there in Washington D.C.  I expect the American citizens will help catch a few more of these hog gone wild fiscally irresponsible blug dogs come 2010 election.  One solution to blug dog fever, send in the blue dog catcher from the 3rd Congressional District.

His name---Thomas E. Scherer.

Warren Buffet is cool--The Koch brothers are not.

Warren Buffet is cool.  The Koch brothers are not.  In a post written by Christina Braden December 14, 2009  at the democratic leaning blog http://forwardkansas.com/, she writes:

"This extremist group [Americans for Prosperity for Koch Industries] attacks anything that may be perceived as threatening Koch industries profits. David and Charles Koch are known for their generous contributions to the arts and cancer research, but the Koch brothers are also known to fund vicious attack campaigns. Such as the “No Stimulus” television and radio ads launched to stop President Obama’s stimulus package.

We are coming up on an election year, and understandably members of congress want to be reelected. Our legislators are led to believe that repealing tax cuts from previous fiscal years will prevent them from being reelected, and this is simply not the case."

Based on my experiences with Warren Buffet, the Koch brothers, Americans for Prosperty including their past and current Kansas executive directors, Alan Cobb and Eric Sonatog; as well as with the Kansas Policy Institute (formerly Flint Hills Policy Institute) including their executive Director, Dave Trabert are very different in their goals, objectives and methods of communication.

Warren Buffet is cool.  The rest like Christina writes, are not cool.  Other than Mr. Buffet, the rest of these entities and people are pro-business, pro-corporate.  Mr. Buffet I can communicate with.  Warren is indeed a well known capitalist.  But Mr. Buffet, with due respect to him, believes in communication that is frank, honest and open.  The others have a hidden agenda that is contrary to your best interests as an individual.

For example, I asked Dave Trabert to help me find a tax policy expert for my docketed case challenging the  Kansas real estate comparables nonsense.  Mr. Trabert refuses to communicate regarding that; or volunteer. Staff at Kansas Policy Institute stated me that my constitutional challenge to the current real estate tax process is only an individual case (which does not benefit Koch Industries)--which I tried to remind them this case will probably be my 10th case docketed or attempted to docket with SCOTUS.

Further, that this case will impact every homeowner in the state of Kansas.  Kansas Policy Institute folks do not care about Kansas homeowers all over the state of Kansas.  All they care about is the impact on Koch Industries.

Now, back to Warren Buffet.  Here is part of the email conservation sent to Warren, Senator Brownback and former Kansas Senator Bob Dole below:

      ***************************************************

Thanks for your kindness. I merely wish Mr. Buffet was running for United States Congress. If he wants, he can stay at my house to establish residency and I would withdraw. Naturally, he is infinitely far superior in intellect than I ever could be.

I did go to the Eisenhower Building, the home of the Kansas Dept. of Transportation. One of their top officials discussed heavy speed heavy rail systems. KDOT does not have the vision we do. I also went to the old Atchison, Topeka and Sante Fe building, which is right by the state Capitol of Kansas, on Jackson St. I will try to keep a very narrow vision and focus on my congressional campaign and think about why I like Ike. (Eisenhower). His vision of how important transportation is to our nation's economic development, jobs, and transportation led to the federal interstate highway system.

While I like Eisenhower and what he did for our nation, he is no Warren Buffet. Take care. I will do what I can as a measly solitary Kansan that likes Ike. And merely wants to build a transportation system in America for the 21st Century.

Mr. Scherer, We did show your note to Mr. Buffett and he appreciates hearing from you. As you might imagine, he has been hearing from other candidates as well who want to talk to him or meet with him. However, he is turning down these requests. He has such a full plate these days and just cannot sign on for anything more.

Dear Mr. Buffet,

Congratulations on your visionary purchase of BNI. BNI also owns the old Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Rail. I know because I was born in Atchison, KS. I am running for US Congress, 3rd District. One of my main goals is building American infrastructure for the 21st Century. Which must include a high speed heavy rail system. China is scheduled to complete their high speed rail system in 2013. And we here in the US have not even started yet.  We have talked in the past. Which is one reason you earned my respect.

I would appreciate your wisdom and vision in a meeting with you up in Omaha or wherever you can afford to give me a few minutes of your time. Humbly yours, Thomas E. Scherer

COPY BELOW PROVIDED TODAY IN SUPPORT
Dear Senator Sam Brownback,

Could you also give me your input and support of one of my ideas of developing a high speed heavy rail system across America as a way to spur economic growth, just like Ike did. I believe this is important to our national security and a positive idea that will unite our country, regardless of party affiliation.

ts, Candidate, US Congress, 3rd District

Dear Senator Dole,

First, I was surprised the Honorable Dennis Moore, the person I am campaigning against announced his retirement yesterday. Mr. Moore had a difficult time representing the 3rd Congressional District over the last 10 years.

Second, tonight all of us filed 3rd District GOP candidates will be speaking in our first major 3rd District candidate forum at the Bob Dole Center on the KU campus.

Third, I would appreciate it if I could have a few minutes of your time to discuss why I am currently thinking like Ike. Dwight Eisenhower, another famous Kansan like yourself brought about economic development by building the interstate highway system. Like Ike, I would like to be one of the leading advocates for building a heavy rail transit system across America. The bullet train for moving people and services by the private railroad industry.

Recently, Warren Buffet, who I have talked to in the past and fax on occasion just bought the Burlington Northern Railroad. That includes the old Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railroad lines. I was born in Atchison, KS, home of Amelia Earhart, another famous Kansan and early supporter of the equal rights amendment.

In closing, I too like these other famous Kansans believe building our infrastructure in the 21st Century with a high speed bullet train system is the key to uniting our nation again; regardless of party affiliation. I am going to contact Mr. Buffet soon regarding his vision and support of rebuilding our national infrastructure with a nation-wide network of high speed heavy rail network. Then, urban and suburban locations would want to develop light rail systems to this heavy rail system.

As my Senator, thanks for everything you did for our country. I too am a honorably discharged Navy veteran, service decorated and have service connected disabilities incurred in serving my nation. Finally, my former wife's mother in law (Mrs. Bentley tells me she is a good friend of Elizabeth and their joint efforts regarding the Red Cross).

My contact information is available below:

End of communication with Warren Buffet, Senator Sam Brownback and former KS Senator Bob Dole.

To which I only received a response from Warren Buffet.  Which proves the point I started with.  Warren Buffet is cool and believes and understands how important communication is.  This explains why he is the richest man in America because he understands how important that communication is.

This also explains why the rest of these yahoo(s) are not like Warren Buffet at all.  And to me, I do not understand why they hate to communicate. Which gives me the impression the grade I should give the rest of these yahoos is an F.  Warren, once again, you get an A+.

For more perspective from another rich dude in Dallas, see this post: http://blogmaverick.com/2007/12/11/warren-buffett-taxes-and-the-presidency/

Warren Buffet is Cool-Koch Brothers are not

Warren Buffet is cool.  The Oracle of Omaha communicates with people.  The Koch brothers are not cool.  The Koch brothers do not want communicate.  Instead, they want to dictate what should be in Kansas via several  organizations such as Americans for Prospertity and the Kansas Policy Institute.  See an article posted yesterday by the democratic liberal blog Forward Kansas article written by Christina Braden on December 14, 2009 about AFP incluidng it's links at  http://forwardkansas.com/.

Christina writes "This extremist group attacks anything that may be perceived as threatening Koch industries profits.

My personal experiences and communication including attemppts with Warren Buffet, the Koch brothers, Americans for Prosperity, Kansas Policy Institute (including Dave Trabert) are all very different.  With Mr. Buffet, I can communicate.  With the Koch brothers, they refuse to communicate at all, or return phone calls I have made to them.  Most of know in the 2008 election cycle, Nick Jordan gave a speech in Topeka, Kansas sponsored by Americans for Prosperity.  But AFP of Kansas former Exec. Director, Alan Cobb and the current executive director Eric Sonatag do not not want to communicate with me, at all.  Why is this?

H.R. 25, aka the Unfair Tax

Most of us congressional candidates that are filed want a better federal tax system.  Some of the candidates have gone public in support of H.R. 25.  I do not support H.R. 25.  At the public forum at KU recently Rysavy, Lightner and Gilyeat support it).  But they are rookie candidates. This bill was dead when it was first written in 2003.

This is hardly a fair tax.  Instead, it is a regressive and unfair tax.  See for yourself at http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h25/text.

So, if I do not find H.R. 25 to be a fair tax as some are advocating, what is a better solution to our federal tax system?  Generally, when a tax system becomes so distorted through the passage of time, is punitive to those who work for a living (middle class), and requires those who are employed to pay an ever-increasing burden of their paychecks; while others like the rich and poor do not; or large corprations that shift profit centers offshore to avoid compliance with our federal tax code; then I concur we, the people need to take back control of our federal government including the federal tax code.

I have several different suggestions I have heard proposed by many people as I listen and do my best to understand what you taxpayers want from our federal tax system.  I worked for the Internal Revenue Service.  Naturally, those patriots whom participated in tea party events, made me proud to be an American this year.

I will continue to listen and do my very best as a congressional candidate to formulate a better federal tax system. I have already suggested several proposals in prior writings on some possible solutions to the federal tax policy.  I propose one of the goals of our federal tax policy should  be to reward those who work for a living.  I propose we as a united people, we the people demand major shift in federal tax policy that includes fiscal constraint, an end to earmarks, and a balanced federal fiscal budget.

Naturally, it takes many congressman to vote for any legislation such as a major tax reform.  Which is one reason it is taking these yahoos in Washington forever, to change much of anything.  So, clearly I want to state even if you have the perfect solution to make America a better place, you still have these corrupt politicans in Washington that will ensure solutions that make America better, will not happen.

I am leaning to  replacing the federal tax code away from a punitive tax system based on income and shifting our federal tax code to one based on net worth and participatory democracy.  I have written several  pieces of what I refer to as "participatory democracy".  Basically, in brevity, I suggest we let you decide how some of your federal tax dollars are spent. Instead of some corrupt yahoo politician giving away your federal  tax dollars to banks that almost ruining our nation.

Participatory democracy would allow you to designate by project or federal agency, how your federal tax dollars are allocated or spent.  You, or we the people will finally return to being in charge of how your federal tax dollars are spent in a fiscally responsible way.  If your participation and designation of how your federal tax dollars are used, then you are  directly participating in the operation of the federal government and how its ofificals and agencies spend your money.

Many of these yahoo power obsessed egomanical narcisistic politicians in Washington will fight us in allowing you to gain the power over the federal fiscal purse strings.  Especially those that are corrupt.  Demand participatory democracy and fiscal constraint.

It is your money and your federal government. If, by our direct participation, we all then have a voice in how federal tax dollars are spent, then more of us would not be apathetic and cynical about the federal government.  We would all be informed by our direct participation.

There is caveat here.  This is a double-edged sword, however.  If your participation and allocation of your portion works and makes America better, you have the right to be proud of your participation and making America a better country.  Naturally, that applies equally is your support goes in the other direction.

It is your duty to ensure our federal government understands, we the people are in charge of the federal government; instead of the federal government telling we, the people what we have to do with federal mandates.

This was the goal and stated purpose of our foundig fathers.  These founding fathers were right  when they wrote the United States Constitution, and we the people have the duty to ensure those famous words and promises are kept to ensure we remain a more perfect or better union.  The founding fathers wanted and intended a small federal government and ensure that we, the people were in charge of ensuring it.

Further, we the people need to demand an end to earmarks.  Senator John McCain called earmarks the "gateway to corruption" in his Straight Talk Express.  I concur.  Instead of the straight talk express, we got the Fantasy Express.

In regard to  this culture of corruption, not only has the gate been open, the cows (federal tax dollars) are wandering all over the place because these fiscally irresponsible gatekeepers have forgotten to shut the gate of corruption.  So, we the people need to shut this gateway to corruption--this corrupt earmark process.  Instead of giving your tax dollars away to some entity, I suggest instead of a free giveaway of your tax dollars, we eliminate earmark process, period.

Instead of earmarks and pork, if some entity wants a federal election official to give them your hard-earned tax dollars, a congressman or senator should be assistive in helping these entities get bonds or loans; instead of just giving away your federal tax dollars.

I have been listening to what you, the people want.  I am still listening.  However, H.R. 25 is not a fair tax; nor a solution to our federal tax code.  Instead, it is an unfair regressive tax I cannot and will not support as presently written.

Bellis-Scherer-Showen Pact: Unity in the 3rd Congressional Race

Americans want to be united, instead of being divided.  Americans want vision and leadership.  Americans want a better nation.  Regardless of our party affiliation. Americans want statesmen; not politicians. Americans want an end to corruption, special interest groups and PACS (Political Action Committees).  Americans want to choose who to represent them; instead of the media telling them who to vote for.  Americans want our leaders in Washington to remember and abide by the United States Constitution as written by our founding fathers. Americans want a lot of things.  I know because I have been listening to them.

Just like some of us congressional candidates do. So, how can four or more of us filed congressional candidates help unite our nation, if we are not united ourselves?

Therefore, this election cycle, Mr. Paul Showen and myself, both having had some experience in congressional campaigns, have signed a pact.  We are going to ask all the filed congressional candidates to sign electronically below, this Scherer-Showen Pact.

If two or more us filed federal candidates can unite, treat each other with respect and dignity, and speak and listen in unity, while concurrently allowing us to respectfully disagree with each other seperately, but with civililty, then one of us can take the message to Washington.

So, regardless of party affilation, with deep respect to those candidates that have the courgage to file and campaign for a job that is a huge burden of responsibility on our shoulders, our families and supporters hereby pledge and promise by their electronic and dated signature below, to do our very best to comply with this pact.

Furthermore, we share a common goal and vision for the 3rd Congressional District to be united.  And hopefully that message or Pact (promise) will expand across this great nation of ours, one person at a time.

Both Mr. Showen and myself co-wrote this Pact.  We are asking and will show below the date other congressional candidates agreed to sign electronically the pact written below.  Further, we are asking others that reside in the 3rd Congressional District to join us.

Finally, you do not have to be a candidate for United States Congress.  You merely have to want to unite our nation, regardless of party affiliaton or any classification and  return our nation from being divided, to returning to being the United States of America.

So anyone wanting to join us in this pact, send an email to any of us filed candidates for United States Congress.  This is our pact or promise to you, the residents of this 3rd congressional disrtrict.  We will do the very best we can, with your help this election cycle to remain united on many common ideas that you want us to represent. Our goal is to listen to what you want us to do, as our employer.

BELLIS-SCHERER-SHOWEN CONGRESSIONAL

We, the undersigned hereby agree in unity and with common purpose, with our collective wisdom, do hereby promise from this day forward to treat our fellow congressional candidates with the honor, respect and dignity each of them has earned the right to expect;

to be your next United States Congressman.

We  try to remember a simple acronym.  WWJD in making our important and critical decisions as your next elected representative.

So help us God.

Written, composed, signed and dated this the 12th day of December, 2009.

Anyone else wanting to unite our nation, contact one of the individuals above and send a dated email and united, we will make this a better nation, for all of us.

Update: Sunday, December 13, 6:00 PM. All candidates were sent an email last night. As well as most were called also. To date, none have indicated any concurrence with the will of the people of this congressional district. Or indicated one way or another, whether they too will participate in this PACT.

This is the first opportunity to demonstrate how they will vote, if elected to be your congressman. So we stand by patiently waiting to see how they respond. We will keep you informed.

Update 2: It is December 15th.  To date, despite emails and phone calls, most of the other filed candidates, or those discussed by the media as maybe they might get the courage to file have refused to agree to this simple Scherer-Showen Pact.

Matter of fact, they refuse to communicate at all.  Which is one of the first things I consider who will be the best representative--will they communicate with me, a registered voter?

To date, they are refusing to communicate, which is probaby the same way they might act, f they are elected. if and when they do choose to communicate, one of their first chances to vote or agree with something decent and honorable, we will post that date.  As well as continue to provide regular updates as time progresses. The clock continues to tick.

Exclusive-Another candidate for the 3rd has filed

This is an exlusive.  I just got a call from Paul Showen, a candidate in 2006 and 2008. Paul is a very good person and inspires me some of the time.

For example, I asked Paul in jest recently (Paul  is a very good Catholic and helps lots of veterans) to ask God if  he would endorse me.  To which Paul merely responded back to me, "Mr. Scherer, God has already endorsed you.  You just did not remember."

Touche Paul.  Welcome to the 3rd District congressional race.

Finally, going a tad bit philosophical, regardless of your spiritual beliefs, or religious affilation:, have we all not been endorsed by God?

Soon, your Christmas Gift will be here

Merry Christmas, have a happy Hannakuh, or a good Kwanzza celebration this year.  Your call on how you celebrate this month. Or even better, celebrate all three.

I am currently in the process of finding the root cause of a problem that personally impacted me.  I did not get my license plate renewal notice.  So, when I was at Ft. Leavenworth talking to our  troops about this horrible war on terrorism (Iraq and Afghanistan),  an observer noted my license plate had expired.

So, I made inquiry why I had not received my notice because I was embarressed by this fact.  Keeping this short, I then went to the State Office building and inquired why.  Apparently, a lot of people in Kansas did not get their license plate renewals either.  Or their real estate property tax notices.  Then, to make this situation even worse, I found out this is happening to people all over the United States.

The root cause apparently lies with the United States Postal Service and it's Postmaster Don Potter.  So, I am waiting to hear from his office right now.  Now, I had to file a protest on late fees.  I had to pay a late fee of $4.79 merely to renew my license plates.  That gives me legal standing to protest those late fees.

Further, I just called my congressional office in Washington DC.   Moore's assistant Brenda transfered me to the United States Postmaster.  I am waiting right now (8:35 AM Friday, Dec. 11) for him, or his assistant to call me back on why this is. (Update--it is now 7 PM.  The Postmaster or his staff still has not called.)

I found out last night that not only are people in Kansas not getting these notices, but in fact, people all over the United States are just like me.  So, I am going to find out why and fix this.  And in doing so, I am pretty certain I can put money in your pocket fixing this situation before Christmas.

So this is why I am a fortunate person.  I have the opportunity to give many people all over the United States a Christmas gift.  But don't thank me.  It makes me get teary-eyed when that happens.

In my family, my son and I decided to change how we celebrate Christmas (our family tradition).  We are tired of merely going to some retail store and purchase each other a gift.  Instead, we are making each other a gift.  Which takes a lot of thought about each other. This also requires me to figure out how to use power tools.  I am restoring a vanity dresser for my son for Christmas.  I miss my son.

He is in Texas.  I don't know about you, but I like to mess with Texas.  It is like like a whole other country.  Peace.  Or quoting Spock, Star Trek, circa 1977, "live long and prosper".

So Merry Christmas from Thomas E. Scherer, the better candidate for United States Congress.

PS.  I just hope this Christmas gift does not help Nick Jordan.  He is one corrupt person that considered me to be the enemy in January 2008.  He is the enemy of all of us.  So don't vote for Nick.  He is corrupt and does not deserve your vote.  He wants to run for Congress for the wrong reasons.  Me, I just want to be your congressman to be your servant.

GITMO CLOSING: HELL HAS FROZEN OVER

I am hearing this right?  Is is really true what I am hearing on TV?

Is President Obama really going to keep one of his promises and close GITMO?

If he does, I only have one word to say.  See below:

YAY.

And once again, we the people are not afraid of any terrorists.  Remember the words of FDR?  The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.

We Americans do not live in fear.  Finally, we can try those who want to harm us, killed some of our fellow Americans on 9/11, so we can finally hang them. And declare we won the war on terror finally.

I am adding a new campaign slogan (borrowed from Texas).

DON'T MESS WITH U.S.
 (The United States of America).

So help me God.

First, I was known as a crocodile . . . now I am the energizer bunny, why can't you just call me a fellow "American"?

The United States Attorney for the District of Kansas and some federal judges consider me to be a crocodile.  Now, the JOCO Sun newspaper considers me to be the Energizer Bunny.  I personally prefer Thomas "Dwight Unite" Scherer. (TDUS). Here is the energizer bunny link:

http://www.sunpublications.com/200912023288/news/merriam-s-scherer-is-candidate-for-congress.html

Maybe they are right, some of the time.

Some people have other kinds of names they refer to me by.  Like Senator Thomas (Tim) Owens, the sponsor of a horrible piece of legislation commonly referred to as Substiute for HB 2018. Tim wants to deprive every homeowner in Kansas from appearing at their local state district court. Which I find not to be to my liking.

So if you, a homeowner in Kansas did not like your real estate taxes, you no longer can go to the state distrrict court where you reside and appear before a judge who lives in our community.  Thank Tim Owens.  I am thanking him by inviting him to a deposition party via a subpoena so I can ask him what was he thinking? So Tim, who hates our Constitutional rights, might get to meet the Crocodile instead of the Energizer Bunny

Senator Tim Owens decided you did not need that right to appear before a judge that actually lives in this community.  Much less before a jury trial regardless of constitutional rights.  Tim sent me an email stating state district judges are not smart enough to understand tax law.  Really Tim?  If I were a state judge, I would not be real happy if I read that email. Or see that email marked as Exh. 1 on April 30.

So, in this Substitute referred to above, despite our Constitutions and their respective Bill of Rights, this Senator gets to hop to a deposition here in Johnson County, Kansas.  Guess where?  Our state district court building here in Johnson County, KS.  And you are all invited also. Every homeowner in the state of Kansas.  No one from MO, please.

First, I started the day off hoping over to give a gift to the Washburn Endowment Foundation executive director and friend of mine, Tom Ellis.  The original architectural drawing of the Sumner Grade School (Topeka, KS).  Tom is to ensure this is a gift to all Kansans from me, your best candidate for United States Congress.

I also hopped over to talk to some folks with Kansas Department of Revenue for several things. First, I found out quite a few people are not receiving their license plate renewal notices.  I was assured this impacted  less than 100,000 Kansans.  So if your license plate is not current, you might want to not wait around for  your renewal notice.  Now they love me down at the State office building.  So now I have to try to fix that mess later.

But I had to keep hopping over to the Sante Fe Railroad Building.  So, I hopped across the Capitol building ground which was not very simple. There was so many fences surrounding our state capitol, it was almost impossible to find a convenient route to the Sante Fe Railroad Building on Jackson St., a mere block away.

The Kansas Capitol building looked horrible to this bunny.  What a mess.  When I was in law school in 2002, the state Capitol had a bench of fences then.  Well, here it is 2009.  The fences are still there.  Maybe by 2019, our GOV and the Kansas Legislature might see to it that the fences are gone.

So, like Christopher Columbus, I found a route of passage to get to this Sante Fe Building on Jackson St. For some reason, unknown to mankind, Jackson St. is also under construction.  So even John Brown might have some problems seeing his own mural in the state Capitol.

Regardless, I hopped to a couple of offices in this Sante Fe Building to see some dear old friends.  Like the Vet Rep who alleges to doing some kind of investigations into when entities discriminate against vets trying to get jobs.  Like me.  Trying to get a job being your next United States Congressman.  Now, this person states he does not want to help me get a job.  Which is ok.  I am asking the voters to hire me, not this bureaucrat.  So I hop to another of my buddies office.

Wayne Minnor, Executive Director of the Kansas Human Rights Commission.  Wayne does not want me to help me get a job either.  Personally, I do think Mr. Minnor should not have a job either running the Kansas Human Rights Commission.  I asked him to resign.

What human right has Minnor made better in his 25 years or so on the job?  He did nothing about Tiller the Killer killing fetuses and babies.  Wayne reminds me of an old saying, that people in hell want ice water. Merely ask Tiller the Killer.  He should know right about now.

So, exactly whose human rights has Wayne Minnor been protecting?  His Commission gets 6 million a year to allegedly protect human rights. But this energizer bunny cannot ascertain which ones.  So, we could save 6 million a year by eliminating this commission and Wayne Minnor.

I then hopped over to to the State Capitol.  I went to see our Kansas Govenor.  In their office, I was treated horribly.  I was referred to in there, as NO. 1 by  the Capitol Security guards.  Mainly because our GOV apparently did not want to talk to me.  I guess our GOV is a kitten (aka by other names including a cowardly critter having a yellow tail); instead of being a fellow bunny.

But I did talk to Senator Haley.  I asked him if he would invite me to a committe hearing regarding law enforcement and racial classifications.  I would be glad to testify there for good reason.

The Kansas Highway Patrol keeps designing the uninform ticket citation form.  That form is distributed and used by troopers, county, and municipal law enforcement officials.  It requires the law enforcement officer to determine what your race is.  Which is pretty difficult to do since law enforcement officials are not anthropologists.

Race is so fuzzy and not a science.  Racial classification is more a myth than a scientific fact. Race is generally one big guess based on the color of your skin.  So race merely divides us as nation instead of uniting us.

So, if an a law enforcement officer guesses your race based on the color of your skin, then that person might have just violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Kansas Act Against Discrimination.  Which is what Wayne Minor has had over 25 years to ensure that kind of nonsense (race guessing) does not happen.  The problem is he has failed.

So Wayne, you not only have failed to protect human rights, you have failed to do anything to protect fetuses, end discriminaton, or do much of any protection of any human rights,at all.  So, why should we give you six million a year?  Beats me.

So yes Senator Haley.  Like you, I want to unite our nation; instead of dividing it along lines of race, gender, party affiliation, religion, ancestry, sexual preference or orientation, or religion.  Something a person like Wayne Minnor is supposed to do for over the last 25 years.

I wanted to ask the GOV why he should not get rid of this person.  But  he would not meet with me.  I guess the Kansas GOV did not read what FDR stated about the only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.  I guess the GOV is afraid to meet with me or return my phone calls.

Anyway, I then hopped over to see a mentor and friend of mine.  Carol Greene, Clerk of our Kansas Supreme Court.  Now Carol is really a cool person.  And in law school when I first met her, she stated "Mr. Scherer, I am going to keep a eye on you." She has and I thank her for doing so.

I wish she was the GOV of Kansas.  I asked her if I could talk to one of our Kansas Supreme Court justices.  She stated I could not.  She stated they can't talk to anyone.  Which must make their spouses and family unhappy.

So then I hopped over to the Kansas Secretary of State's office and purchased the voter registration CD-ROM which is what we congresssional candidates do.  So, that cost this bunny fifty bucks.  Which could have bought me a lot of carrots as a fiscal conservative.  So I left there and was hungry thinking about how many carrots that cost me.  So, I went to the Jayhawk Towers Resteraunt.  Well, no carrots there either.  Their resteraunt is under new management and had no carrots to eat.  So, I then I hopped over to the Eisenhowser building.  Because I like Ike.

In the Eisenhowser building, I talked to some people about my vision for building our national infrastructure with a high speed heavy rail system.  Some of these people agreed that Kansas is a great location for doing so, because of our long state history of reliance on the railroad industry.  So that was encouraging.  So I left and went to see another friend of  mine over the Kansas Disability Rights Center, Rocky Nichols.  Rocky would not come out of his office either.

So, being one tired bunny, I went back to my car and went and got a cheeseburger.  And then drove home  exhausted after hopping around Topeka all day.  Then, it was time for Tuesday to do some more hopping down the bunny trail.  And that is what is like to be a candidate for United States Congress.  We have to hop around a lot hoping we can make our nation better.

So, unless my deposition is quashed, come on over to an energizer bunny party at the Johnson County Courthouse at Dec. 22, 2009 so you can ask Tim what he was thinking, just like I am going to be doing around 1 PM.  Hop on over, fellow bunnies.  More than likely Tiny Tim will not show up.  Since he does not like our Constitutions, or FDR. He will probably hide in fear from the Energizer Bunny.  Come on Tim.  Don't be afraid of a bunny named Thomas E. Scherer, aka, Candidate, United States Congress.

We need to come to some kind of common ground here on what I am.  And what you are. Let me see.
Ok, what unites all of us?  What should we call each other?  Let us try to unite ourselves.

Let us call each other simply an "American".  If you are born here in the United States; or alternatively, here lawfully, we can call each other either simply as a fellow American, most of us being a native of this great country based on our birth. And skip all the other classifications that divide us as a nation.

Thanks for simply being a fellow "American". So please, just call me an "American".  And with that kind of name, we are united. I am pretty certain Senator Tim Owens and a certain an attorney named Kathyrn Myers might be calling me other things right now. Since they don't like what FDR stated, the only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.

This bunny has no fear, just like FDR stated long ago.  See what FDR wrote on this very blog.  He was a good writer also.  Plus, I also like Ike. He liked to write too.  Ike also liked to build things that united our nation.  Like the federal interstate highway system.  Good job, Ike.  You had a vision that united us as a nation.

So in conclusion wrapping up my postion of unlawful immigration policy as well; if you are here lawfully, good.  We are united as fellow Americans.  If you are from MO, (classified by that football coach legend as "the enemy"); or, here in Kansas unlawfully, get your Oz out of Kansas.

Another round of economic stimulus to create more jobs? Give me a break.

Did I hear right on the news tonight?

Did Obama state he has having problems keeping most of his promises. Including creating or saving jobs. So, he wants to dig a deeper hole. To which I refer my readers to my prior post about digging out the clothes line pole in my backyard. If you keep digging a bigger pile of debt that needs to be repayed by many generations later, you might be wiser to pull the clothes line pole out, instead of merely digging some more clear to China.

I hope someone does one of those lists since Obama was elected over a year ago. Our troops are going to be out of Iraq this year, 4 million or so jobs will be saved or created, but no date on when this is going to happen.

Initially, we were going to rebuild our infrastructure to create and save jobs; until all the whiny GOV's of the several states met with Obama at the National GOV meeting shortly after he became President. I wrote this was merely appeasing all the whiny GOV of the several states and was a very short term solution.  Too late, we blew over a trillion dollars.  And now Obama wants more?  Give me a break.

And almost all of these whiny GOV(s) took all your federal tax dollars. Where did that money go? Not to mention the federal government tried to "fix" what the bankers and money changers did to our nation--making risky investments to maximize profits resulting in a depression that started April 29 of this year based on another decline on revised GDP.

Instead of building our national infrastructure, as I predicted back in February, these kinds of socialist progressive economic policies by interference in a a free market econony, is exactly the kind of federal dealings that keep trying, but failing as expected to artifically stimulate the economy.

Moreover,by giving huge amounts of money to these state governments was one of the hugest economic blunder of his administration. Bailing out the fiscally irresponsible banks, insurance companys and brokerage houses (that got into this depression); was enough to make the American public (mainly hard working, fiscally conservative middle class America), mad enough over the corruption to go to Tea Parties all over the nation; as well as over million people went to to protest on the National Mall in Septemeber.

Then, we have to remember no tax increases promises. That went out the door with SCHIP legislation within his first 30 days in office. Now we all know GITMO is going to be closing before Jan. 1, because Obama promised us that  last year.

Then, presidential policies frm the President and dem leaders tried to con us into why we needed CAP and CRAP. aka, Cap and Trade. Then, mandating all of us to be forced to get health insurance. And if we did not, big penalty like nine grand until you voluntarily did.

I could go and on and on. Just like our national debt. Clear to China. What you could do is refer to my visionary plan related to building a heavy rail, high speed transport system by private corporations using their money, instead of your federal tax dollars.

Someone better have some vision for America that will bring about economic growth, build an economic infrastructure without federal tax dollars. Hence, why I had communication with Warren Buffet.

I highly suggest we unite as a nation regardless of any classification, to build an energy-efficient form of transportion all across America. With high speed bullet trains linking metro areas, then local municipalities can start focusing on their own light rail systems that interconnect.

That building of a national infrastructure would unite our nation. Remember, Dwight Unite.
I like Ike. His plan worked when he was President and it will work now with my substantial efforts to stay narrowly focused on building a new national infrastructure for all of us,  in this 21st Century.

Transportation is the key to an economic recovery. Digging bigger holes of debt by the federal government is the worst thing we could support here in America. Who has solutions and vision, unlike any other Kansas Congressional candidate, we are pretty certain we know who.

A person that likes Ike. Thomas "Dwight Unite" Scherer, your best candidate for United States Congress, the dude no one has ever heard of. Finally, I had intended tonight to give you an update of how I am going to put dollars in your pocket instead of Obama wanting to give you change. I will do that later. I am pretty tired and yesterday and today ,was a really long, exhausting day doing stuff for you, citizens of Kansas.

Wonder what the other congressional candidates, and that dude named Jordan that threatens all of us he may file; what did all these yahoos do for you lately? Ask them. So far, the current batch of congressional candidates are relatively inexperienced.  There ideas are either flat, uninspiring or flat out wrong.

They are good people, but they have no clue how to win a congressional seat and no vision what-so-ever for the 21st Century.  I have respect for them. But I assure you, it takes a tremendous amount of time and effort to be the best candidate for your next congressman.

I have been working for the last five years on what is going to take to lead this nation out of all this corruption going on with the DC yahoos, we the people repeatedly kept sending some of these yahoos back to Washington.

Wake up people. Pay attention.  Review these corrupt politicans helping give your federal tax dollars to their friends, the special interest groups and their PAC contributors.  There are so many bought politicians in Washington, if you knew what I did, you might expatriate.

The new batch of rookie candidates have no plan, nor will they tell you any plan. They just want your money because they are politicans. Whereas Scherer is a statesman earning your vote by putting dollars into your pocket; while multi-tasking like the energizer bunny on a plan for the 21st Century that will work.

Day of Infamy, FDR, and Progressive Socialists

Tomorrow, is the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. So, I wanted to review my most favorite quote by FDR.  Naturally, the most famous quote of FDR was his Presidential Inauguration Speech. That speech is worth posting below because it is very similar to where we are in America right now.

But before I post that speech below, many of us understand that FDR was a progressive socialist.  And ever since FDR, our nation has continued moving further and further into socialism.  This must  be reversed.

Our founding fathers intentionally wanted a small federal government with limitations.  The founding fathers feared big government and rightfully so.  If we the people, allow the federal government to get even bigger with the Obama administration's insane goal to take over national health care, the federal government would have direct control over health care.  That would represent 1/6 of our national economy.

I am pretty certain the founding fathers would not want the federal government to be in charge of 1/6th of our national economy.  Nor do I.  We, the people are in charge of the federal government.  The federal governnment is not of charge of us, we the people.  But some in the Obama administration keep forgetting that.

The most famous portion of FDR's speech that we need to constantly remind ourselves regarding this insane "war on terrorism" and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is: "the only thing we have to fear, is fear itself."  Instead recent administrations including Bush and Obama's  continue to tell us people of this nation we should have fear.

I say nonsense.  I also say being in Iraq and Afghanistan is also counter to the wisdom of the founding fathers.  The founding fathers clearly stated they did not want our nation interfering in any nation's sovereignity.  That included the United States not interfering in any nation's sovereignity either.  So rhetorically, why are we?

I want to give an analogy of what the citizens of Afghanistan must feel like.  Here in the US, we have a huge problem with the federal government not being able to control unlawful immigration.  Nor is the federal agency in charge of lawful immigration doing very well either. (ICE).

So, suppose the Chinese decided they wanted to help us with unlawful immigation by sending 180,000 troops and equipment to help us control unlawful immigation.  Especially since China has so much invested in our debt owned to them by our Treasury Dept. (Around 3 trillion dollars).

How would you feel if armed Chinese troops helped us here in America with unlawful immigration?  So, going back to Afghanistan, and putting yourself in their shoes, how do you think they feel  about our troops infringing on their right to be in charge of their nation without infringement by any other nation?

I do not want Chinese troops and their military equipment on American soil.  So, what makes us think the people of Iraq and Afghanistan want our troops and equipment in their country infringing on their right to their national sovereignity?

The alleged "war of terrorism" is merely fear mongering by the federal government apparently for the sole purpose of keeping the military-industrial war machine profitable just like Dwight "I like Ike"  Eisenhowser warned us about in 1961.

Like FDR stated, we, the people of this nation, have nothing to fear, but fear itself.  Maybe FDR, like Ike and our founding fathers should have also added we ought to fear a federal government that keeps infringing on other nation's sovereignity; and a federal government that thinks it should be in charge of 1/6th of our national economy.

That scares the heck of me.  But, because I am scared, does mean I have fear.  For we, the people merely to have remind the federal government we are in charge, not them.

+++FDR, a huge progressive socialist (Inaugaration Address (1932)+++

“Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself”: FDR’s First Inaugural Address

Franklin D. Roosevelt had campaigned against Herbert Hoover in the 1932 presidential election by saying as little as possible about what he might do if elected. Through even the closest working relationships, none of the president-elect’s most intimate associates felt they knew him well, with the exception perhaps of his wife, Eleanor. The affable, witty Roosevelt used his great personal charm to keep most people at a distance. In campaign speeches, he favored a buoyant, optimistic, gently paternal tone spiced with humor. But his first inaugural address took on an unusually solemn, religious quality. And for good reason—by 1933 the depression had reached its depth. Roosevelt’s first inaugural address outlined in broad terms how he hoped to govern and reminded Americans that the nation’s “common difficulties” concerned “only material things.”

                                                           **************************

"I am certain that my fellow Americans expect that on my induction into the Presidency I will address them with a candor and a decision which the present situation of our people impel. This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our country today. This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days.

In such a spirit on my part and on yours we face our common difficulties. They concern, thank God, only material things. Values have shrunken to fantastic levels; taxes have risen; our ability to pay has fallen; government of all kinds is faced by serious curtailment of income; the means of exchange are frozen in the currents of trade; the withered leaves of industrial enterprise lie on every side; farmers find no markets for their produce; the savings of many years in thousands of families are gone.

More important, a host of unemployed citizens face the grim problem of existence, and an equally great number toil with little return. Only a foolish optimist can deny the dark realities of the moment.

Yet our distress comes from no failure of substance. We are stricken by no plague of locusts. Compared with the perils which our forefathers conquered because they believed and were not afraid, we have still much to be thankful for. Nature still offers her bounty and human efforts have multiplied it. Plenty is at our doorstep, but a generous use of it languishes in the very sight of the supply. Primarily this is because the rulers of the exchange of mankind’s goods have failed, through their own stubbornness and their own incompetence, have admitted their failure, and abdicated. Practices of the unscrupulous money changers stand indicted in the court of public opinion, rejected by the hearts and minds of men.

True they have tried, but their efforts have been cast in the pattern of an outworn tradition. Faced by failure of credit they have proposed only the lending of more money. Stripped of the lure of profit by which to induce our people to follow their false leadership, they have resorted to exhortations, pleading tearfully for restored confidence. They know only the rules of a generation of self-seekers. They have no vision, and when there is no vision the people perish.

The money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. The measure of the restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit.

Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. The joy and moral stimulation of work no longer must be forgotten in the mad chase of evanescent profits. These dark days will be worth all they cost us if they teach us that our true destiny is not to be ministered unto but to minister to ourselves and to our fellow men.

Recognition of the falsity of material wealth as the standard of success goes hand in hand with the abandonment of the false belief that public office and high political position are to be valued only by the standards of pride of place and personal profit; and there must be an end to a conduct in banking and in business which too often has given to a sacred trust the likeness of callous and selfish wrongdoing. Small wonder that confidence languishes, for it thrives only on honesty, on honor, on the sacredness of obligations, on faithful protection, on unselfish performance; without them it cannot live.

Restoration calls, however, not for changes in ethics alone. This Nation asks for action, and action now.

Our greatest primary task is to put people to work. This is no unsolvable problem if we face it wisely and courageously. It can be accomplished in part by direct recruiting by the Government itself, treating the task as we would treat the emergency of a war, but at the same time, through this employment, accomplishing greatly needed projects to stimulate and reorganize the use of our natural resources.

Hand in hand with this we must frankly recognize the overbalance of population in our industrial centers and, by engaging on a national scale in a redistribution, endeavor to provide a better use of the land for those best fitted for the land. The task can be helped by definite efforts to raise the values of agricultural products and with this the power to purchase the output of our cities. It can be helped by preventing realistically the tragedy of the growing loss through foreclosure of our small homes and our farms. It can be helped by insistence that the Federal, State, and local governments act forthwith on the demand that their cost be drastically reduced. It can be helped by the unifying of relief activities which today are often scattered, uneconomical, and unequal. It can be helped by national planning for and supervision of all forms of transportation and of communications and other utilities which have a definitely public character. There are many ways in which it can be helped, but it can never be helped merely by talking about it. We must act and act quickly.

Finally, in our progress toward a resumption of work we require two safeguards against a return of the evils of the old order; there must be a strict supervision of all banking and credits and investments; there must be an end to speculation with other people’s money, and there must be provision for an adequate but sound currency.

There are the lines of attack. I shall presently urge upon a new Congress in special session detailed measures for their fulfillment, and I shall seek the immediate assistance of the several States.

Through this program of action we address ourselves to putting our own national house in order and making income balance outgo. Our international trade relations, though vastly important, are in point of time and necessity secondary to the establishment of a sound national economy. I favor as a practical policy the putting of first things first. I shall spare no effort to restore world trade by international economic readjustment, but the emergency at home cannot wait on that accomplishment.

The basic thought that guides these specific means of national recovery is not narrowly nationalistic. It is the insistence, as a first consideration, upon the interdependence of the various elements in all parts of the United States—a recognition of the old and permanently important manifestation of the American spirit of the pioneer. It is the way to recovery. It is the immediate way. It is the strongest assurance that the recovery will endure.

In the field of world policy I would dedicate this Nation to the policy of the good neighbor—the neighbor who resolutely respects himself and, because he does so, respects the rights of others—the neighbor who respects his obligations and respects the sanctity of his agreements in and with a world of neighbors.

If I read the temper of our people correctly, we now realize as we have never realized before our interdependence on each other; that we can not merely take but we must give as well; that if we are to go forward, we must move as a trained and loyal army willing to sacrifice for the good of a common discipline, because without such discipline no progress is made, no leadership becomes effective. We are, I know, ready and willing to submit our lives and property to such discipline, because it makes possible a leadership which aims at a larger good. This I propose to offer, pledging that the larger purposes will bind upon us all as a sacred obligation with a unity of duty hitherto evoked only in time of armed strife.

With this pledge taken, I assume unhesitatingly the leadership of this great army of our people dedicated to a disciplined attack upon our common problems.

Action in this image and to this end is feasible under the form of government which we have inherited from our ancestors. Our Constitution is so simple and practical that it is possible always to meet extraordinary needs by changes in emphasis and arrangement without loss of essential form. That is why our constitutional system has proved itself the most superbly enduring political mechanism the modern world has produced. It has met every stress of vast expansion of territory, of foreign wars, of bitter internal strife, of world relations.

It is to be hoped that the normal balance of executive and legislative authority may be wholly adequate to meet the unprecedented task before us. But it may be that an unprecedented demand and need for undelayed action may call for temporary departure from that normal balance of public procedure.

I am prepared under my constitutional duty to recommend the measures that a stricken nation in the midst of a stricken world may require. These measures, or such other measures as the Congress may build out of its experience and wisdom, I shall seek, within my constitutional authority, to bring to speedy adoption.

But in the event that the Congress shall fail to take one of these two courses, and in the event that the national emergency is still critical, I shall not evade the clear course of duty that will then confront me. I shall ask the Congress for the one remaining instrument to meet the crisis—broad Executive power to wage a war against the emergency, as great as the power that would be given to me if we were in fact invaded by a foreign foe.

For the trust reposed in me I will return the courage and the devotion that befit the time. I can do no less.

We face the arduous days that lie before us in the warm courage of the national unity; with the clear consciousness of seeking old and precious moral values; with the clean satisfaction that comes from the stern performance of duty by old and young alike. We aim at the assurance of a rounded and permanent national life.

We do not distrust the future of essential democracy. The people of the United States have not failed. In their need they have registered a mandate that they want direct, vigorous action. They have asked for discipline and direction under leadership. They have made me the present instrument of their wishes. In the spirit of the gift I take it.

In this dedication of a Nation we humbly ask the blessing of God. May He protect each and every one of us. May He guide me in the days to come."

ENDNOTE: A progressive is a person that does not like the United States Constitution as written. Which is slightly presumptous.  Think it about.  Progressive socialists are stating they are wiser than our founding fathers were.

Usually, progressive argue the United States Constitution is out of date with changing times.  To which I  disagree with progressive socialists.  Progressive socialists are and will destroy our nation.  Hence, why our nation is in the condition it is ever since FDR advocating progressive socialism.  Which now includes the current Obama adminstation.  Hence, why there are tea parties all over America--whose purpose is to ensure progressive socialists stop ruining our nation with their fiscal insanity.

Finally, in regard to the recent BJ&R conspiracy where high level officials want Nick Jordan to be their hand-picked congressman, have no fear there either.  I am going to make certain that does not happen.

Reading this speech by FDR, merely makes me wonder.  Was this written in 1933 or 2009?  Regardless, it applies in 2009.  Just as it did in 1933.  Let us just hope Roosevelt' s failed policies do not lead to WWIII.

I closing, just a tad bit of wit, just like FDR.  The only thing I have to fear is the JOCO Tax Apraiser who keep raising my real estate taxes year after year. Thanks, Paul.  Your subpoena is in the mail so I can ask why.

I want to test Steve Rose's theory on what it takes to get elected

Steve Rose, a filed candidate for United States Congress keeps telling us more than once, including his last article or column (being generous) what it takes to win the GOP Congressional Primary.  He insists without elaboration, it is going to take more than $700,000.  I would like Mr. Rose to write a column next week explaining his theory.  Because I explictly reject that theory as nonsense.

Mr. Rose thinks it takes money to win elections. And certainly he should know after his nine-day campaign. To which I counter the congressional candidate that gets the most contributions may in fact, be influenced by those PACS and other entities that contribute heavily to  any congressional campaign committee.

For example, review Mr. Moore's contributors in the past.  Such as the IBEW. I remember this union PAC promised no more campaign contributions would be given if  Moore voted for NAFTA. He did.  IBEW's PAC despite their promise, still made a PAC contribution anyway.

From my own past election cycle here in Merriam, the day of the election, one of the candidates for city council knocked on my door asking me to vote for him.  I asked him how much money had he spent running for Merriam City Council race.  He stated zero dollars.

He still got a lot of votes, including mine.  My decision was based on what he wanted to do for me, a resident of Merriam. For he admitted he did not spend seven hundred thousand dollars.  He spent zero.

Why? I wonder taking Mr. Rose's theory into consideration,  how did this happen?  How can a person running for elected office get votes, yet not spend a nickel campaigning?

I am pretty certain when it comes to who we vote for, it is more important what a candidate suggests might make our city a better place to live; just might be a more important factor to some of the voters, some of the time.  Isn't what a candidate states his best opinion of what the consensus of the voters expect from their next congressman good enough?

NO. Writes Steve Rose. YOU MUST HAVE A LOT OF MONEY.

According to Mr. Rose, that is not  enough.  To win the GOP primary, a congressional candidate must have at least seven hundred thousand dollars.  I reject that theory Mr. Rose.  And I think there are three other filed candidates with the FEC and a lot of voters that might not agree with your stupid theory either.

My goal is merely prove your theory is one big fallacy of nonsense hopefully by August 2010.

To the IBEW, et al: I want to thank the brothers and sisters of the IBEW. Some of your leaders helped some of us employees at Providence-St. Margaret Hospital get a big raise when your leaders tried to help us.  Not to mention how grateful I am to all the unions and skilled trademen and craftsmen that built this country of ours.  But clearly, I am sorry but I cannot nor will I accept any PAC contributions.

Sorry. I am not for sale.  While noting some may be. I am pretty certain one candidate will have seven hundred thousand dollars.  I would not vote for this person.

Brownback Roberts & Jordan Conspiracy Derailment Railroad Team

What a dumb move.  Here Brownback, Roberts and Jordan conspire to demonstrate some kind of republican culture of corruption incident.  Way to go.  The BR&J Nightmare Express-a two way crooked track to the Bridge to Nowhere dividing the GOP again.

Not only is this a dumb idea, it just cost Brownback my endorsement. I am assuming a lot of other GOP voters are wishing Ron Thornburg was still running.  I do.

So, Sam, send me the Scherer for your Congressman contribution back.  I already withdrew my endorsement via your horrible Me for GOV web site. Let us review the damage the Brownback for GOV campaign has cost the KS GOP party so far.

First, Sam ruins our nation as a Kansas's United States Senator in Washington. Then, he ruins Ron Thornburgh, a very good Kansas Secretary of State's campaign and life. Then, Sam gets Amanda Atkins in as the Exec. Director.  Now, Sam ticks off us four filed congressional candidates, which includes are families, friends and our supporters.

Who is the next victim on the Sam Brownback chopping block?  Considering the state of our nation, our whole state of Kansas may be at risk.  Here we are finally after 12 years, on easy street to take back the 3rd.

Regardless of Railroad Sam, it is still  going to be a real pleasure beating Nick in the primary ensuring the Brownback Roberts & Jordan railroad goes into the history books as a really stupid idea of how to really tick off four filed congressional candidates and their supports that have been campaigning for months.  Not to mention a lot of voters. But let us do hold Sam accountable.  Only he or Bernie Madoff could come up with this kind of scheme.

I remember what Nick told me in Jan. 2008 in the early stages of the election cycle.  He told me I was the enemy.

Well, Nick, at least you will be right in 2010.  I hope all those voters I told not to vote for you then,  did not make you mad when you lost the election the last time.  They are not going to vote for you this time either.

I am pretty certain if you are going to run, so will Paul.  He took 24% of the vote and he did not even have the support of Dick "Satan" Cheney; or the money to mount much of a campaign. He got a lot of votes because he was a good Christian and a better candidate.  If Paul would have had more money, maybe he would have actually beat Moore in 2008.

I hope you campaign like you did in 2008.  Showing up at two events to get your check is hardly considered a campaign.  But I am thrilled. You might try something novel like going to Douglas and Wyandotte Counties this time.  Ooops.  That would mean you actually have to campaign.

I am going to get a lot of personal enjoyment out of ensuring you lose in 2010; just like you did in 2008.  What a coward.  You could not beat Moore and you were afraid of him this time.  What makes you think you can beat four of us that were better than you, plus we were not afraid of Moore either.  What a coward and opportunist. What were you afraid of Nick?

Stupidest GOP plan of the year.  It does pose a decision time for me.  Since GOP leaders backstabbed us four filed candidates, should I beat Jordan in the GOP primary; or alternatively, should I go back to the Dem Party so I can beat Nick in the general.

Since we are talking about railroads, I got a response from Warren Buffet's office regarding wanting to get private corporations to build a high speed high rail system.  Which would bring jobs, economic growth and unite our nation.  More on that next time.
