December 3, 2009,
e tu Brutus. I remember that line from my freshman Latin class at Maur Hill. (1967). Thanks Father Martin for that and for being my soccer coach. I remember it was a story about what that Ben Hodge guy did to Caesar. So Ben, I would really appreciate an edit or removing the knife from my back. I agree with your post I just received there is extreme bias and a very corrupt GOP 3rd District race.
For example, Steve Rose at the JOCO Sun refuses to inform voters I am running for U.S Congress on the GOP ticket. So I have to call Steve's boss, David in St. Joe MO. I then met with Chris Rogers at the Sun just two days ago during their move from the 3rd floor to the second floor. Steve Kraske at the Kansas City Star did the same thing in refusing to report me as a filed candidate until I called his CEO Gary Pruitt at McClatchy Corp. HQ.
Further, the same day, I endorsed Jerry Moran for the United States Senate at the JOCO KS GOP HQ, where my first cousin Mike Kuckleman is the treasurer. To make matters worse, I noticed that Patricia Lightner, a government liaison for HSBC Bank and John Rysavy, employed with Genenetech had offices subsidized by what is supposed to be a "non-biased alleged non partisan, but well known we hate disabled people GOP HQ" right here in Johnson County, Kansas.
I asked for Ronnie Metsker to explain to both myself and media relations staff member Charles Wilson why some were given these office spaces and other candidates such as Dan Gilyeat and me were not given such a great deal. They have no documentation to prove to any candidate like myself, or to a state judge any such offer was sent in any writing.
I specifically asked for this alleged document. First, Amanda and the staff at JOCO GOP HQ told me it was a letter. Now, the offer is an email. Only problem is they cannot give me a date or produce this alleged offer for this prime office space to all the GOP congressional candidates including me.
I think what I really should do is ask a judge to ask them in a lawsuit I feel compelled to file in state district court. Maybe all of these people can explain all of this nonsense to a judge, since these really rotten people refuse to tell either my staff communications director Charles Wilson or me what is going on.
This is one of the strangest, most corrupt congressional races I have ever seen in America. Why are these newspapers, KS GOP including Amanda Atkins, as the KS GOP executive director unable to prove to me by any document that we just requested, why Lightner and Rysavy are given these prime office spaces paying only $250, yet neither of the two candidates report anything in their last FEC reports at all about these offices. (Source, www. fec.gov).
Here below double spaced is Amanda's December 2 request to Metsker related to my inquiry:
Tom Scherer called and asked for a copy of the letter you sent
regarding JoCo office space for candidates. I shared with him that it
was my understanding it was sent to all declared candidates, first
come first serve and that it was a fixed monthly fee. It would be
great if you would share with him the policy and any other
information.
All My Best, Amanda

The Federal Election requires these offices be reported by both candidates based on the fair market value of the office space. There is no reporting by Lightner or Rysavy at all.
Finally, I asked Chris Rodgers the editor of the Sun Publication to explain to me in person why the media omits that fact that Lightner, an apparent attorney at law, reported a $10,000 loan from her husband, that she subsequently had to remove from her campaign since this is not allowed per FEC regulations. To verify, merely go to www.fec. gov. Just like I did.
I could not find either Lightner or Rysavy reporting any contribution related to getting this a) special office space offer to only them, but not others and b) why neither are reporting this contribution on their current FEC reports.
I am a disabled war veteran also, just like Dan Gilyeat. I have more in the campaign than any other GOP candidate. I was the first candidate to file for the 2010 election cycle. Yet, the bias and the unlawful discrimination I have to endure continues in the 3rd District.
I merely wonder if I should call Larry Gates, Kansas Democratic Executive Director and see if he would be willing to represent me in a court case as my attorney. Does anyone on the distribution list have Larry's phone number?
And this kind of discrimination is what it is like to be a person with a disability in America. The GOP Party all over this country hates the disabled. Even me, as one of their own candidates for United States Congress. Thanks for writing the ADA Senator Harkin (IA). Another piece of worthless paper. And people sometimes have the audacity to wonder why I have passion.
Now I get a google alert on an article by one of my email buddies. I merely ask e tu, Ben Brutus Hodge?
Tom Scherer, the better candidate for your U.S. Congress,

PS. I want everyone to know I like Ben Hodge. Like me, we have courage. Mr. Hodge emailed me yesterday and understands I was making reference to his post which omitted me as a congressional candidate. He was humble and apoligized for his omission. It was not intentional. I merely hope he does an edit to that article.
He merely forgot that I was a filed candidate when he wrote that article in haste. Which I understand. I exhange emails with Mr. Hodge and subscribe to his writings. I have tremendous respect for him for having courage to continue imroving things, despite the adversity we face in trying to do so, seperately, but united. We both want the same thing-to make this nation, our state and our local communities better. To me, Mr. Hodge has courage. He is a hero of mine.

Now appearing at the 3rd District Congressional forum
Despite the media refusing to acknowledge I am filed as a congressional candidate, the reality is that I am. Merely go to http://www.fec.gov/. I guess Steve Rose at the JOCO Sun and Steve Kraske at the KC Red Star prefer the residents of the 3rd District only know about some of the filed congressional candidates. The local media is not to be trusted in politics. They have a special pro-business bias based on ad revenues. I personally have more confidence in the Internet political forums because they have no vested interest in generating ad revenue. Those political bloggers, like Scherer merely want the very best candidates elected to our United States Congress.
It also appears some of the conservatives want to refuse to acknowledge the fact I am a filed GOP candidate. Regardless, I will make it quite clear I am running Nov. 24th on the KU campus at the congressional forum. Hope you can attend so you can clearly understand why I am the best candidate for the 3rd Congressional District.
Furthermore, I am not like the incumbent Dennis Moore. Nor do I want to be. I believe in the United States Constitution; as well as not representing any special interest group like some of these politicians. Hope to see some of you there.

Letter to Steve "it's about the money" Rose
Hey Steve, sorry to hear about your issue with Crohn's. Your article dated Sept. 30 understates what it takes to run for Congress. Your analysis is far too short in stating there are only basically three factors:
1. 75% of the time is raising funds
2. It's a full job, and then some.
3. [A candidate] needs to raise $700,000 to win the GOP primary.
Running for Congress is not about money Mr. Rose. Most of my time is spent communicating with many people trying to determine what the consensus of the voters and non-voters want from their elected representative in Washington.
Restating, it has never been about the money. It is about studying the issues and having solutions to problems those in the 3rd Congressional District want and expect from their elected official. As well as communicating that message to the electors sufficient to warrant their vote in both the primary and general election.
In closing, running for Congress is serious business. Maybe during your nine-day campaign, you began to understand and realize that as the 3rd District rep, your vote may make a huge difference in people's lives. I get it Steve. And maybe finally, you are starting to.

Campaigning goes very active in October
I will be traveling most of September on personal business. When I return, the congressional campaign goes from active to very active. Generally, I respond to all phone calls (913) 403-8584 and emails sent to my attention at tscherer4@kc.rr.com. I want your input, your solutions and voices to be heard this political cycle.
As the most experienced congressional candidate in the 3rd district, I listen to the voices of the voters in trying to arrive at consensus of what the voters and non-voters want from their next congressman.
The incumbent wants to hide when it comes to reforming health care. I cannot blame him for hiding. He has had 10 years as the incumbent to having been responsible for turning health care and the economy into a complete fiscal, moral and ethical disaster.
But he certainly made the drug and health insurance companies happy. If you review his filings with the Federal Election Commission, you can see how happy lobbyists and special interests are in making hefty campaign contributions. Also note how lawyers, financial industry, and real estate executives like to pay the incumbent for all the favorable legislation that benefited their special interests; that you have to pay for.
My goal this congressional campaign is focus ande inform the people on why I will be a better choice for individuals; not special interests. The incumbent has made so many errors, I no longer need to point out why he does not deserve to be anyone's congressman. The tijme to end special interests from shaping the political agenda in Washington is coming to stop with this political candidate.
The incumbent should stop hiding and merely retire so the 3rd District can finally get a congressman that spends more time in DC representing us, instead of constantly flying home every week so he can continously campaign. Help the incumbent retire.
The DC lobbyists and special interests will miss all his political favoritism. But the individual voter having to pay for all this political nonsense and irrational fiscal irresponsibility, is coming to an end. It is time.
He knows it. I know it. And so do the voters and non-voters of the 3rd Congressional district. Is there anyone left that wants the incumbent to stay in office any longer; except for Steve Rose at the Johnson County Sun and the KC Star editors?
I don't think there is. Almost everyone I ask, wants better representation. The incumbent is running out of excuses and deniability for what he and many others in Congress has done over the last 10 years. As a fiscal conservative, wanting less federal government intrusion into the soverignity of the state of Kansas, that is my promise to you.
The time for excuses are over. Accountability and responsibility is no one but his-instead, we only get repeated deniability and blame someone else, election after election. The incumbent can't even claim to be a fiscal conservative blue dog democrat anymore.
And the Democratic solution, more taxes to pay for their socialistic programs that even the Office of Manangement and Budget (OMB) states will not work.
What will work is getting these yahoos that have created this federal government mess out of Washington. If not in 2010, when? So in ending, in 2010, vote for a fiscal conservative tired of politicans in Washington trying to tell us individuals what we need. What we need now in America is less federal government-not more democratic socialism.
